Eco-Friendly Lifestyle Changes to Reduce your Carbon Footprint

We should all be looking for ways to reduce your carbon footprint and the race is on to cut carbon emissions before we enter the irreversible climate changes that come with a 3-degree rise in global temperatures.

Scientists have been warning us for years and you might be thinking that the key to success lies with government and legislation, yet you can make a difference. If we all changed our lifestyles to become greener, this would have a massive healing effect on the ozone layer.

Here are a few ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint:

1. Create an organic garden

Why not add a few yards of rich topsoil to the far corner of the garden and grow your own organic vegetables? There’s nothing like eating your homegrown produce and here in Australia. We have the perfect climate for growing, plus gardening is a great stress reliever and you can reduce your carbon footprint.

2. Plan an eco-friendly funeral

There are many funeral directors who offer pre-paid green funerals, which ensures that your family is not burdened with funeral costs. Plus you can design your very own humanist funeral and the cost is frozen from the date the agreement is signed.

If you would like to learn more about green funerals, simply search with Google and you’ll find a lot of information.

3. Take upcycling

Leave the car at home and bike to nearby destinations, which will not only reduce pollution, you will become a fitter in the process.

Lots of Australians cycle on a daily basis, which keeps you in shape, while mountain bike riding adds another dimension and there are some great trails, which can be found online.

Here is a great article on preparing for retirement, something we all have to experience.

4. Electric Vehicle

If you do a lot of miles in a year, you can make a real difference by switching to an EV and many auto manufacturers are investing heavily in the EV market, which is most definitely the future.

If you can afford it, the Tesla 3 is a wow car that can do 0-100 kph in just 3.5 seconds and can comfortably cruise on highways, while there are other makes on the market.

5. Solar panels

The Australian government offers homeowners attractive financial incentives to make the switch from the national grid to solar energy.

This is one of the best ways that you can reduce your carbon footprint and you will no longer be dependent on the huge energy corporations, who like to hike their prices often.

Click here for the Australian government’s information on solar energy, which we should all read.

6. Use natural textiles

You can buy bamboo sheets and socks, while always looking for products that are made exclusively from natural products. If we all did this, the world would be a better place and technology can help to integrate natural materials into modern products.

Here is some Australian government information on the environment, which makes for an informative read. If we all make an effort to do what we can to reduce our carbon footprint, we can start to redress the balance and help Mother Nature recover.

Happy Sustainable Living!
